Sierra Nevada Aquarium

Aquarium Overview

High Sierra

The California Sierra Nevada only has one aquarium located in South Lake Tahoe. See Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Kokanee Salmon in a natural stream viewing chamber. Aquariums are always one of the best choices for fun things to do with kids.

Taylor Creek Stream Profile Chamber

Taylor Creek Visitor Center is situated on the edge of South Lake Tahoe. They feature short paved walking trails through wetlands along a lush creek. Rainbow Trail has a Stream Profile Chamber where a portion of the creek is diverted along side a below-ground viewing chamber. Fresh water fish like rainbow trout and brook trout are commonly seen and beginning in October, Kokanee Salmon can be seen as they begin their spawning runs. Souvenirs and reference materials such as nature books and maps are available at the visitor center.
