California Science Center Aquarium

The California Science Center is found off Interstate 110 south of the 10. Situated in Exposition Park with several other museums, the California Science Center is a hands-on science museum focusing on mathematics, physics, biology, space exploration and more. The Ecosystems exhibit features kelp forest aquariums with with salt water fish like sharks, eels, garibaldi, sculpin, anchovies and more local fish species. Pass through the sea aquarium in an underwater passageway with fish swimming overhead. Feel sea anemones, starfish, hermit crabs and more in the learning touch tanks. The California Science Center is a perfect choice for fun things to do in L.A. with kids.

The Wildlife Waystation is accessible from Osborne Street off the 210 Freeway in the Angeles National Forest. This wild animal park is run by a non-profit group to help rescue, rehabilitate, relocate and provide sanctuary for exotic animals. Zoo animals list usually includes tigers, grizzly bears, wolves, coyotes and more. The Wildlife Waystation is a good idea for fun things to do in L.A. with kids.

Manhattan Beach Pier

The Round House Aquarium is found at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier off Manhattan Beach Boulevard. This is a small, sea aquarium with local salt water fish species. The S.E.A. Lab is located off Harbor Boulevard just south of 190th Street. This is a unique sea aquarium funded by Southern California Edison. The electrical plant across the street uses large intake tubes to suck water from the ocean to help cool turbines. Many of the unique fish and other creatures that mistakenly make the trip through the tubes are placed in the exhibits. S.E.A. Lab includes touch tanks of tide pool sea creatures as well as large tanks with halibut, sea bass, leopard sharks and other salt water fish species. The S.E.A. Long Beach

Aquarium of the Pacific

Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific is found in Shoreline Village near the end of the 710 freeway. This is a large scale facility with sea lions, otters, stingrays and other salt water fish species from around the world. Shark Lagoon is a touch tank where you can pet 5-foot long sharks. Whale watching tours are available in Rainbow Harbor, just outside the Long Beach Aquarium. The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific is a great choice for fun things to do in L.A. with kids.

The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is located south of Interstate 110 in San Pedro. This is a small learning center with several small to moderate-sized exhibits. See calico bass, sharks, Pacific lobster, garibaldi, mantis shrimp, starfish and more. Cabrillo organizes grunion spotting on Cabrillo Beach when in season.
