Central Valley Lakes Overview

Central Valley

Central Valley Lakes offer boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, houseboating and other activities. Find rentals for fishing boat, pontoon boats, ski boats, Sea-Doo, Jet Ski, WaveRunner, paddle boat, paddleboard, canoe and kayak. Most have boat launch ramps and marinas that provide fuel, food & drink, cafés, fishing tackle and camping supplies. Several Central Valley lakes offer camping and some even include boat-in camping. Among those to choose from are the large Folsom Lake situated outside Sacramento and offering hundreds of miles of shoreline, or the smaller Lake Camanche and Lake Tulloch below the foothills of Gold Country. Central Valley Lakes

Lake Natoma is located off Highway 50 east of Sacramento. Situated below the Folsom Dam spillway is Natoma and the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. Natoma is a recreation and learning facility operated by Cal State University Sacramento. It's open to public use and to CSUS students, staff and alumni for a discount. Natoma features a beach area, picnic tables, barbecues, several docks and classrooms. The Sacramento Aquatic Center offers classes in boating that includes sailing, windsurfing, rowing, water-ski, wake board and jet ski. Boat rentals include sailboat, windsurf board, water bike, paddle boat, stand-up-paddleboard (SUP), canoe and kayak including double kayak rentals.

Folsom Lake is located east of Sacramento between Interstate 80 and Highway 50. Folsom is 12-miles long with activities like boating, fishing, swimming, skiing, camping, picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Amenities include campgrounds, picnic areas and a marina. Boat rentals are available at several concessions and include fishing boat, Sea-Doo, Jet Ski, pontoon boats, sailboats, canoe, kayak and more. Folsom supports fish species like trout, catfish, large and smallmouth bass, blue gill, salmon, kokanee and sturgeon. Boat-in campsites are available.

Lake Solano is located off Highway 128 west of Winters. Solano offers a small narrow lake with activities like fishing, boating, camping, swimming, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Amenities include a campground, picnic areas and boat launch. Solano is popular with fly fishermen who pursue rainbow trout and brown trout.

The California Delta is a combination of river delta, estuary and bays all intertwined between Vallejo and Stockton. Also known as the Sacramento Delta and San Joaquin River Delta, several marinas cater to Delta visitors with accommodations, restaurants, campgrounds, boat rentals, fishing tackle and more. Popular activities include boating, houseboating, water-skiing, fishing and wildlife viewing. Common wildlife includes wild turkey, turtles and river otter. The California Delta supports fish species like striped bass, black bass, blue gill, catfish, flounder, sturgeon, salmon and carp.

Camanche Reservoir

Lake Camanche is located east of Lodi between Highways 12 and 88. Camanche is 7-miles long with activities like boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, camping, picnicking, hiking and horseback riding. Amenities include campgrounds, picnic areas, marinas, tennis courts, basketball courts and volleyball courts. Boat rentals and general stores are available at both marinas. Camanche supports fish species like rainbow trout, large and small mouth bass, spotted bass, catfish, kokanee salmon, crappie, bluegill and sunfish.
