North Coast Kayaking Overview

North Coast

North Coast kayak rentals, canoe rentals and (SUP) stand-up paddleboard rentals are available at harbors, beaches and lakes in the region. Many rental shops also offer tours and lessons to learn how to kayak. From the open ocean to calm harbors and secluded lakes we've found the perfect places to kayak on the North Coast. These water sports are easy, fun and require little experience, making them the perfect summertime activity. Explore the sea caves in Van Damme State Park. Canoe with the current along the Russian River and shuttle back.

Eureka

Kayak Zak's is located off Highway 101 north of Trinidad. Situated at the Stone Lagoon Visitor Center in Big Lagoon County Park, Kayak Zak's offers ocean kayak (sit-on-top) and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) rentals and tours in the protected waters of Stone Lagoon. Rentals include everything from wetsuits and paddle gloves to super soakers and even dog life jackets. Tours and lessons are available.

Humboats Kayak Adventures is located off Highway 101 near downtown Eureka. Situated at the Woodley Island Marina, they offer ocean kayak (sit-on-top), canoe and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) rentals. Rentals include single and double kayaks. Tours and lessons are available. Paddle around Arcata Bay and Humboldt Bay or load up and head out to Big Lagoons County Park.

Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center is located off Highway 101 in Old Town Eureka. Situated on the Eureka Waterfront, Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center is run by Humboldt State University and hosts a full-scale aquatic equipment rental program. Rent an ocean kayak (sit-on-top) or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and paddle around Humboldt Bay for as long as you like. Brief instruction is included to learn how to kayak and paddleboard. Rentals include a life jacket, wetsuit and splash jacket. No experience necessary.

Mendocino

Liquid Fusion Kayaking is located off Highway 1 in Fort Bragg. Situated in Noyo Harbor, Liquid Fusion offers lessons and tours from beginner to kayak surfing, whitewater kayaking and rock gardening. Catch a Canoe is located east of Highway 1 off Comptche-Ukiah Road. Situated at the Stanford Inn, Catch a Canoe offers a wide selection of bike, outrigger canoe, roof racks, canoe and kayak rentals for exploring beautiful Big River and beyond. Gualala

Adventure Rents is located off Highway 1 north of Sea Ranch. Adventure Rents offers 2-hour to full-day canoe and kayak rentals. Enjoy a relaxing picnic, refreshing swim or explore the many bends and curves of the picturesque Gualala River. Healdsburg

Lake Sonoma is located off Highway 101 west of Cloverdale and Geyserville. Lake Sonoma is a large lake at nearly 15-miles long but narrow at less than 1 mile in width. Activities include camping, fishing, water-skiing, swimming and boating. Boat rentals include pontoon boats, ski boats, fishing boats, canoes and kayaks including single and double kayak. Lake Sonoma supports fish species like largemouth bass, crappie, redear sunfish, bluegill and catfish.
