Central Coast

Central Coast kayak rentals, canoe rentals and (SUP) stand-up paddleboard rentals are available at harbors, lakes and beaches across the region. Many rental shops also offer tours and lessons. From the open ocean to calm harbors and secluded lakes we've found the perfect places to kayak on the Central Coast. These water sports are easy, fun and require little experience, making them the perfect summertime activity. Rent a paddleboard (SUP) and cruise along Cannery Row through kelp beds teaming with sea otters. Paddle along the shores of Lake Cachuma outside of Santa Barbara.

Santa Cruz

Venture Quest is located at the a Santa Cruz Wharf near Main Beach and the Boardwalk. They offer kayak rentals, tours, sales and classes to learn how to kayak. wetsuits are included with all rentals. Rent an ocean kayak (sit-on-top) from 3-hours to full-day. Kelp beds, coastal cliffs and wildlife-rich waters are easily accessible from the Santa Cruz Wharf. Expect to encounter otters, seals, sea lions and maybe even some dolphins.

Kayak Connection is located off Highway 1 halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. Paso Robles

Lake San Antonio is located off Highway 101 northwest of Paso Robles. Lake San Antonio is 17-miles long with 65 miles of shoreline. Activities include boating, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing. Amenities include lodging, campgrounds, a café and marina. Boat rentals are available at the marina and include pontoon boats and ski boats with skim tubes, kneeboards and more.

San Simeon

Kayaker at Moonstone Beach

Kayak rentals are available during the summer months at William Randolph Hearst State Beach by Kayak Outfitters. They offer rentals of ocean kayak (sit-on-top), stand-up paddleboards (SUP), bodyboards, wetsuits, surfboards and more. Tours and lessons to learn how to kayak are available from San Simeon to Cambria. Rentals are available by the hour for single and double kayak. Paddle the sheltered San Simeon Cove and discover several sea caves. You may encounter sea otters along the shoreline of the headlands or near the pier.
