Orange County Amusement Parks Overview

Orange County

Amusement Parks in Orange County include Disneyland®, Disney California Adventure®, Knott's Berry Farm, Adventure City, Camelot Golfland and Boomers. Some are fun roller coaster parks, while others are more of a theme park. A few of them also feature water parks. Below we've listed all that in Orange County. Orange County

Adventure City is located between off Beach Boulevard between the 22, 5 and 605 freeways. This is one of the few parks that's geared toward younger thrill seekers. Rides include the Freeway roller coaster, 45-foot Drop Zone, Crazy Bus, Barnstormer Planes, Giggle Wheel and more. Other attractions include a petting zoo, rock climbing wall, children's theater and Thomas the Tank Engine interactive train set. Parker's Fill-Up Station serves fresh pizzas, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, curly fries, churros, ICEEs and caramel apples among other favorites. Consider having your next party at the Party Tree House. Adventure City is a great choice for fun things to do in Orange County with kids.

Disneyland

Disneyland is found off Interstate 5 in Anaheim. Home of Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and so many more fairytale characters, Disneyland is the "Happiest Place on Earth". Classic Disneyland rides include Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean® and the Matterhorn and are still some of the best anywhere. California Adventure is situated directly across from Disneyland. Downtown Disney® is located just outside the theme park and can be accessed without purchasing a ticket. There you can find Disney® souvenirs, shopping and entertainment. Disneyland tops of the list for fun things to do in Orange County with kids.

TIPS:

  • Take advantage of FastPass®. Grab a ticket from the dispenser in front of each ride and come back at the designated time. You can maximize your ride intake this way.

  • Download Disney Parks Mobile App for an even better experience with wait times.

  • Make a reservation for lunch or dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant in the Pirates of the Caribbean® when you first enter the park. It's one of the best places to eat in the park with great atmosphere. Head to the right side of Pirates of the Caribbean to find it.

  • Carry a small backpack with snacks, water and a light jacket. Once inside the park, you'll be having too much fun and dread having to head back to the entrance whenever you need something from the locker.

  • Lockers are situated near the entrance to the park, which are great for storing food to beat the high food prices in the park and jackets for the cool coastal evenings.

  • Apply sunscreen and drink lots of water in the summer months.

Disney California Adventure is found next to Disneyland off the 5 freeway in Anaheim. California Adventure is located on the same lot as Disneyland, this theme park offers a "California in a day" experience. Attractions include roller coaster and theme rides like California Screamin', Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and old-fashioned boardwalk games. They even have a Boudin's Bakery shop offering famous San Francisco sourdough bread. California Adventure is a perfect choice for fun things to do in Orange County with kids.

TIPS: Soarin' Over California is one of the coolest attractions in the park. Don't miss getting on this ride.

Camelot Golfland is found off the 91 Freeway in Anaheim, between the 57 and 55 Freeways. This small-scale amusement park features an arcade, mini-golf, laser tag and water slides. Three miniature golf courses feature Castles of the World theme, Jungle theme and Oceanic & Nautical theme. Camelot Pizza serves up pizza and sandwiches to hungry visitors. Camelot Golfland is a good choice for fun things to do in Orange County with kids.

Knott's Berry Farm is Orange County's first amusement park located off the 5 and 91 freeways in Buena Park. The Knott family invented the boysenberry on the farm that was once at this location. Mr. Knott started the park as a replica of Calico Ghost Town. This theme park features roller coaster and Old West attractions like Bigfoot Rapids, Xcelerator, Ghostrider and Jaguar. Be sure to keep an eye out for unscrupulous characters when riding the Calico Train. Visiting Knott's Berry Farm is one of the top things to do in Orange County. Soak City water park is also situated directly across the street and Medieval Times dinner theater is within walking distance. Knott's Berry Farm is near the top of the list for fun things to do in Orange County with kids.

TIPS: A restaurant at the front of the park serves Mrs. Knott's original fried chicken and fresh boysenberry pie recipes.
Also, walk behind some of the buildings in the ghost town and you might find some hidden secrets like the cowboy buried so recently that you can still feel his heart beatin' through the grave.

Several Boomers! are found throughout Orange County including Fountain Valley and Irvine. These small-scale amusement parks feature mini-golf, arcades, go karts, bumper boats, batting cages, laser tag, rock walls, rides and more. On-site cafés serve up favorites like pizza, fried chicken, pasta and salads. The Irvine location features Buccaneer Cove, a seasonal water play area with water slides.
