San Diego Zoos & Aquariums

San Diego Zoos & Aquariums Overview

San Diego

San Diego has two large zoos. From the popular San Diego Zoo of Balboa Park to the wide open freedom of the San Diego Wild Animal Park. From reptile and exotic insect exhibits to flamingos and elephants, California zoos are the perfect place for a one-day or overnight safari. San Diego also has some of the best aquariums in the country from the world-renowned Sea World to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. Whether you're looking to step into a kelp forest or dip your hands in a shark petting pool, San Diego has what you're looking for.

They are part of the Legoland Theme Park for the young ones with rides like Fairy Tale Brook and Coast Cruise. Some of the mini cities and structures built with Legos are amazing. San Diego Wild Animal Park

San Diego Wild Animal Park is located east of interstates 5 and 15 on highway 78 in Escondido. This is the most awesome zoo we've ever encountered. This park features over 1800 acres of wild animals roaming free in their natural habitat. A tram ride showcases the park and/or walk along viewing trails.

TIP: Look into some of the exciting extras you can reserve in advance like caravan safaris through the park and sleep overs when the nocturnal predators can be heard through the night. Also, Highway 78 is Avocado country. Be sure to stop off at one of the many fruit stands to take advantage of the unbelievable prices on avocados.
