Orange County Zoos & Aquariums Overview
Orange County has two small zoos. The Orange County Zoo is located in Irvine Park and features local species including fox, coyote, racoon and more. The Santa Ana Zoo has a wider variety of animals and includes a petting zoo. Orange County also has a small aquarium situated in Dana Point Harbor that displays local fish species.

Orange County Zoo is located in the back of Irvine Regional Park off the Jamboree exit off interstate 5 in Irvine. This is a very small city zoo with mostly local animals including bears, coyotes, mule deer and owls. The park it is located in offers much entertainment for youngsters with a train ride, donkey rides, pedal boat and bike rentals, softball fields, bike trails, mountain biking and picnicking.

Santa Ana Zoo is located off interstate 5 near the 55 interchange in Santa Ana. This is a small city zoo consisting of several small exhibits and a large petting zoo.
TIP: SAZOO is located close to Disneyland.

Ocean Institute of Dana Point is located in the Dana Point Harbor near PCH (highway 1 - Pacific Coast Highway). This is a small educational aquarium with exhibits of local species. Tidepool exploration is within steps of the aquarium. A tallship is usually moored at the dock.
TIP: The Dana Point Tallships Festival takes place in September. You can book excursions on these ships through the aquarium website.
