Whale Watching

Whale Watching Overview

Whales are protected along California's coast and therefore, have been increasing in numbers over the years. Even sightings of the, once almost extinct, Blue Whale are thankfully increasing and Killer Whale (Orca Whale) pods have been spotted from Eureka to San Diego. Other whale sightings include the Gray Whale, Humpback Whale, Minke Whale, Fin Whale and Baird's Beaked Whale. With so many species now thriving off our coast, the once seasonal activity of whale watching is now possible year round. Fishing charters have been quick to accommodate a booming interest in whale watching as well as some enterprising boat owners. Today, nearly every major marina, port or harbor along the California coast offers some sort of whale watching option from up close kayak tours to a whale watching cruise in a luxury yacht. Select a region below to find a whale watching tour in your area.
