Western Sierra Snow Sports Overview

Western Sierras

California's Western Sierras have several well-known ski resorts as well as small community supported ski hills. Many California ski resorts also offer groomed cross-country ski trails and most provide rental equipment, food services and ski schools. From the technical steeps of Kirkwood near Tahoe to the smaller Badger Pass in Yosemite's high country, ski resorts in California are ski and board friendly and many now offer terrain parks. Be sure to check the resort websites for ski packages. Other winter activities include snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
