Listed below are many of the recreational lakes in the San Francisco region that offer boating, fishing, swimming or other activities. These lakes offer boat rentals that can include fishing boats, kayaks, canoes, ski boats, jet-skiis, paddle boards, pontoon boats and pedal boats. Most have boat launch ramps and marinas that provide fuel, food & drink, cafes, fishing tackle and camping supplies. Several offer camping on the lake. Among those to choose from are the large Lake Berryessa and California Delta to the small county parks like Quarry Lakes and Los Vaqueros Reservoir. Lake Berryessa - Napa Valley is located north of Napa Valley off Highway 128. Lake Berryessa is over 20 miles in length and offers 165 miles of shoreline with activities like boating, water skiing, houseboating, fishing, camping and picnicking. Amenities include cabins, campgrounds, marinas, general stores, picnic areas and launch ramps. Boat rentals include houseboats, fishing boats, ski boats, patio boats and personal watercraft. Fish species include rainbow trout, brown trout, steelhead, chinook salmon, kokanee salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white catfish, channel catfish, green sunfish, bluegill, squawfish and carp.

San Pablo Reservoir - El Sobrante is located off Interstate 80 east of Richmond. San Pablo is over 4 miles long and a half mile wide. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking and picnicking. Amenities include a visitor center, cafe, bait shop, picnic areas and launch ramp. Boat rentals include fishing boats, row boats, patio boats, pontoon boats and kayaks. Fish species include trout and catfish.

Lake Chabot - Castro Valley is located off Interstate 580 east of San Leandro. Lake Chabot is nearly 3 miles long and a half mile wide. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking, biking and picnicking. Amenities include a marina, cafe, bait shop, picnic areas and launch ramp. Quarry Lakes - Fremont is located east of Interstate 880 between Union City and Fremont. Quarry Lakes are comprised of several small lakes that were once rock quarries. Activities include boating, fishing, swimming and picnicking. Amenities include a swim beach, picnic areas and launch ramp. Fish species include trout and catfish.
