Santa Cruz Venture Quest is located at the a Santa Cruz Wharf near Main Beach and the Boardwalk. They offer kayak rentals, tours, classes and sales. Wetsuits are included with all rentals. Rent from 3-hours to full-day. Kelp beds, coastal cliffs and wildlife-rich waters are easily accessible from the Santa Cruz Wharf. Expect to encounter otters, seals, sea lions and maybe even some dolphins.

Moss Landing Kayak Connection is located off Highway 1 halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. They offer kayak & stand up paddle board rental, instruction, classes and tours. Monterey Bay offers three options for kayak rentals from Fisherman's Wharf to Cannery Row. They offer kayak & stand up paddle board rental, intruction, classes and tours. Monterey Bay Kayaks is located at the Wharf off Del Monte Avenue, A B Seas Kayaks is situated at the Coast Guard Pier along Cannery Row and Adventures by the Seas are situated near the beach at the beginning of Cannery Row. Navigate kelp beds and a the wild-life rich waters of Monterey Bay. Expect to see sea otters, seals and sea lions along the way. Paddle down the coast past the historical Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Sea Otter at William R. Hearst State Beach

San Simeon Kayak rentals are available during the summer months at William Randolph Hearst State Beach by Sea for Yourself. They offer rentals of kayaks, Boogie Boards, westsuits, surfboards and more. Tours and lessons are available. Launch from a sandy beach into the sheltered San Simeon Cove. Along the shoreline of the headlands or near the pier you may encounter sea otters. The State Beach is part of the Hearst property and is located adjacent to Hearst Castle.

Kayaker at Moonstone Beach

Cambria is a quaint seaside village situated between San Simeon and Cayucos. Kayakers will encounter many varieties of open-ocean kayaking along the Cambria shoreline including sandy beaches, kelp beds and rocky headlands. Sea for Yourself offers rentals and tours for whale watching and fishing.

Morro Bay offers three options for kayak rentals from the Embarcadero to the Morro Bay State Park Marina. They all offer kayaks and canoes for navigating the sheltered waters of Morro Bay. Paddle down into the estuary of Morro Bay State Park for bird viewing, up to the mouth of the bay for a close up view of Morro Rock, or across the bay to the sand dune breakwater for a picnic. Kayak Horizons and Sub Sea Tours are located along the Embarcadero and Kayak Shack is located to the south at the Morro Bay State Park Marina. Sub Sea Tours additionally offers underwater tours from semi-submersibles.

Santa Barbara Kayaks can be rented from both Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Sailing Center. Paddle Sports of Santa Barbara rents kayaks and surfboards from the beach just west of Stearns Wharf and at their office in the harbor. The Santa Barbara Sailing Center rents kayaks and other boats from their harbor location. Choose a leisurely paddle from the harbor to a bouy loaded with sea lions, under Stearns Wharf and back again. Or, take one of the many guided tours to the Gaviota coast, Carpenteria and even the Channel Islands for sea cave exploration.

TIP: Captain Jacks and Santa Barbara Adventure Company are two other companies that offer very unique guided tours throughout the Santa Barbara/Channel Island region.
