Below you'll find information on sea caves that can be found along California's North Coast. Whether it be the massive sea caves at Russian Gulch State Park or the many sea caves at Van Damme State Park, the North Coast has something to please. Most of the large sea caves are only explorable by kayak and an experienced paddler.
Russian Gulch Sea Caves are located off Highway 1 just one mile north of Mendocino. Situated within Russian Gulch State Park, several sea caves can be found among the crevices of the headlands. Sizes range all the way up to one that's 200 feet deep and 100 feet across. The larger sea caves are only accessible by kayak, but many can be explored on foot at low tides. Devil's Punch Bowl was once a large sea cave until the roof collapsed, leaving a gaping hole that's lined with wild flora and a churning sea below.
