Lake Shasta is located off Interstate 5 north of Redding 10 miles. Lake Shasta is a popular destination for boating, water skiing, fishing, camping, houseboating and more. Shasta Caverns are located on the north end of the lake and feature underground caves with stalagtites and stagmites. In addition to the campgrounds listed below, Shasta offers many primitive campsites, cabins and motels throughout the many forks of the lake. Local wildlife includes bald eagles, osprey, bear and deer and are seen frequently at the lakes edge. Fish species include bass, many varieties of trout, many varieties of salmon and sturgeon.
TIP: We've personally caught huge trout and salmon in this lake. Unbelievable fishing! Troll with Rapala© lures at the surface in winter for trout and salmon. Use a downrigger in the summer. Summer months provide an endless bass supply in the many small coves. East of the Interstate 5 bridge is a large granite wall on the southern side. Troll with a downrigger through this section and be ready for lunker brown trout.
Antlers is located on the north end of Lake Shasta near Lakehead. Camp is situated on a bluff near Antlers Amphitheater and boat launch with a marina and rentals.
