Six Rivers National Forest is located in the coastal mountain range from the Oregon border south beyond Eureka. The only National Forest campgrounds with conveniences like flush toilets are found along the Smith River region in the northernmost part, off Highway 199. Panther Flat Campground is located approximately 16 miles east of Crescent City on Highway 199. Campground is next to the Smith River and world class fishing.
